More Chemical Reaction Classification

More Chemical Reaction Classification
Post by Pam H.

Homework and Review
For Friday, we had to complete the Classifying Chemical Reactions packet, which went along with our lab.  Listed below are the problems that the class had trouble on.

Second Page
Reaction #7: HCl (aq) + NaOH (aq) ----> H2O (l) + NaCl (aq)

2d. Decomposition: CaCO3 (s) -----> CaO(s) + CO2 (q)

Third Page
6.  Sulfur dioxide gas reacts with oxygen on a platinum catalyst surface to produce sulfur trioxide gas.
2SO2 (g) + O2 (g) ---> 2SO3

8.  Heating solid nickel chloride dihydrate yields solid nickel chloride and water vapor.
NiCl2 * 2H2O (s) ---> NiCl2 (s) + 2H2O (g)

If you have any further questions on these problems, or other problems from the lab, feel free to talk to Mrs. Friedmann or visit the TLC.

We also took a short quiz Friday, so if you were absent talk to Mrs. Friedmann about making it up.

Homework
The homework for this weekend is to watch the video called "Stoichiometry: Chemistry for Massive Creatures" and to take notes on it.  You can find this video by logging into Moodle and looking on the right hand side of the page.  If you're having trouble finding it, there is a picture attached below of what to look for.

The next scribe author is Ashley M.
